The Purdue Boilermakers held off the Michigan Wolverines last night 92-88 in a thrilling win to stay undefeated in the Big Ten. Again, this team shows that they can win in many different ways and how complete this team really is.
Purdue big man, Isaac Haas, had 24 points in only 20 minutes played in the win. At 7-foot-2, many opponents double team him when he gets the ball in the post. The only issue with that is when he kicks it out, Purdue has an plenty of shooters that can knock down the three and it makes them extremely tough to guard. The Wolverines decided to defend the arc and Haas made them pay.
A lot of attention for this team has been on Carsen Edwards, even mentioned as an “X” factor in a previous post, but tonight was about Vincent Edwards. The senior forward had a career-high 30 points in the win. Edwards did more than score, he was as effective as you could expect out of a player, going 9 of 11 from the field, 9-10 from the free throw line and knocking down all three 3-point attempts. He also added five assists and five rebounds.
When it comes down to the nitty gritty, this Purdue team not only has what it takes to win the Big Ten, but they have what it takes to win a national title. From guard play to a solid post presence, this team checks every box. They play tough and can beat you in many different ways. The Purdue Boilermakers can be the best team in the country.
